National Group are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager to lead safety, environmental and training functions at the Sino Iron Mine in Western Australia.
This is a key leadership role responsible for driving a strong safety culture, ensuring environmental compliance, and managing workforce training and competency across large-scale Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) and topsoil operations.
If you have strong experience in HSE leadership within civil or mining environments and hold a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116) with experience assessing mobile plant operators, this is an excellent opportunity to play a critical role on a major operation with a respected Australian contractor.
About the Role
As
the HSE Manager, you will oversee all aspects of health, safety, environmental
management and training across site operations.
The role involves working closely with construction and production teams to
ensure compliance, competency and continuous improvement across all work
fronts.
The project operates a large mining-class earthmoving fleet including Hitachi
EX5600 EX3600 excavators, Komatsu 830E
haul trucks and CAT D11 dozers, supported by graders and ancillary equipment to
deliver large-scale embankment and earthworks construction.
You will play a key role in influencing site culture, managing HSE systems and
ensuring all personnel are trained, assessed and competent to perform their
roles safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and promote a strong safety-first culture across all site activities
- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, site standards and environmental obligations
- Oversee environmental management including rehabilitation, dust control and compliance reporting
- Conduct audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations
- Manage HSE systems, procedures and reporting requirements
- Provide leadership and mentoring to HSE personnel
- Deliver and coordinate training, VOCs and assessments for mobile plant operators
- Maintain training records and ensure workforce competency compliance
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to improve safety performance
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in a senior HSE role within mining, civil or large-scale earthworks
- Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and environmental requirements
- Experience in TSF or large-scale earthworks projects (highly desirable)
- Diploma of Work Health & Safety (BSB51319) or higher
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116) – essential
- Qualifications in Environment Management or Sustainability are highly advantageous
- Experience training and assessing operators on heavy mobile equipment
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to influence behaviours and drive a positive safety culture
- Commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement
